...The FSCIA's training committee believes that... an investigator's ability to empathize with the victim/survivor's experience remains a cruical training topic. As a result, the Innermotion Dance company was invited to perform at the association's annual summer training conference in Tampa, FL ... Innermotion's presentation was incredibly expressive, powerful and direct. The response of the conferees to the experience was overwhelmingly positive, in that the performance was unlike any "sensitization" training previously attended. Historicaly, such training takes the form of a "lecture". It is difficult to emotionally connect to the message when delivered this way. Innermotion's unique presentation, on the other hand, make it impossible not to connect, and therein lies its value. Post performance evaluations revealed that every conferee believed that Innermotion's performance was important training, valulabe in assisting them in doing their jobs. ...

A sound barrier was broken last week at the unlikeliest of places - the Conference Center aboard NAS Pensacola by a unique group known as Innermotion, a dance theater company from Fort Lauderdale, Fla... funded by the Governor's Task Force on Domestic and Sexual Violence, Innermotion shared their unique gift at the morning session of a Sexual Assault Victim Invervention conference being held here. ... Members of the "captured" audience were inmpressed. "They're very brave to be doing this," said Michelle Clampitt, a SAVI program coordinator in Guam. It's a great non-threatening way to get people to react to the reality of incest. Very well done." Lt. Michelle Flaherty, Director of Family Services Center near Norfolk, was equally impressed. "I was moved," said Flaherty. "They portrayed a lot of what I hear my counselees talk about. It took a lot of guts for them to do what they did."

... known her in a professional capacity since 1990 in numerous and diverse roles. ... Her authenticity and sincere regard for the wellness of others gently breaks down barriers, making people feel they are in a safe environment and where they are understood.
Ms. Daugherty is an extraordinary presenter. I have witnessed her take a somber, seemingly disinterested crowd and gently, slowly engage them, eventually bringing them to their feet in rounds of applause. I have seen tight lipped, arms-crossed adult men, quietly but strongly finally speak out to the audience about their experiences. ... There is something magical that happens when Ms. Daugherty brings the audience into her world. She takes her spectators well beyond survival, reaching heights of inspiration and motivation, and turns them into willing participants.
